Silent Aquarium Filters

If your an aquarium hobbyist, chances are you probably know how important it is to choose a good aquarium filter to ensure that your aquarium water quality is kept top notch and that there is enough filtration power to keep the water looking clean. It is very important to make sure that your aquarium filter is capable of maintaining healthy levels of nitrite and ammonia, 2 of the most common types of pollution that can be fatal to your fish. If you are using a filter that is capable of filtering out excess waste, it will save you a lot of time when it comes to keeping ammonia and nitrite levels to a minimum.

At the same time, many of the more powerful filters often tend to be loud and can make a very inconvenient splashing noise that can be quite irritating if your trying to watch a movie in the living room or carry on a conversation with a friend. For this reason, its important to find a powerful high flow aquarium filter that is also a quiet aquarium filter as well. When you are able to find this balance between efficiency and noise level, you will find that you will enjoy your aquarium more and you will also have less water maintenance to keep up on because the high flow filter is doing most of the cleaning for you. If you cherished this article therefore you would like to get more info about filtering well water nicely visit the web site. There are primarily 3 types of aquarium filters, overhead power-filters that hang on the back of the tank, under gravel filters, and canister aquarium filters.

Canister Filters For Aquariums

Canister Filters for aquariums are by far the best kind of aquarium filter that you can get for your aquarium if your concerned about having a very quiet aquarium filter and plenty of efficiency power to keep your water clean and your water quality at optimal level. Canister filters are compact, hidden, very efficient and very quiet. They are also one of the most modern designs of filters that have become very popular in the world of an aquarium hobbyist. This type of aquarium filter is especially popular with larger aquariums that are 55 gallons or more.

Overhead Power Filters

Probably the most common type of aquarium filter that you see in fish tanks is the overhead Power filters such as the Penguin Bio-Wheel, which is a very powerful and high quality overhead power filter for both small and large aquariums. These are the types of aquarium filters that hang from the back of the tank. The problem with overhead power filters is the fact that they are the loudest type of aquarium filter that you can buy and they lead to more evaporation in the tank which requires you to add more water to top off the aquarium more frequently. Secondly, the filter cartridges are fairly expensive and they need to be replaced every 30 - 60 days at the most.

Undergravel Aquarium Filters

Undergravel aquarium filters are another type of aquarium filter that you can use in a fish tank. The good news is that they are fairly quiet, but the down side is that they are fairly obsolete and I have talked to a lot of very experienced aquarium enthusiasts that cautioned against getting one because your are more likely to experience circulation issues. This means that some areas of the tank may get a good amount of filtration, while the other side of the tank may not get very good filtration at all. Overall, this means that it is not the most efficient route to take when choosing a quiet aquarium filter that does a good job of filtering out excess waste that causes high levels of ammonia and nitrate.

Here is a video that talks about some of the quietest under gravel aquarium filters.

You can find the Eheim filter in Amazon Advertisements listed above the hub, I know that Amazon carries all of the Eheim filters. Eheim filters are by far my favorite brand of aquarium filters, and also the Fluval canister filters do a great job. Very quiet.
