Abstract

Malfunctions in traffic infrastructure, such as traffic lights going out or faults in the electrical system, can cause traffic disruptions and reduce road safety. The Forward Chaining method is used to build an expert system that analyzes facts related to the symptoms of damage and produces conclusions based on predetermined rules and the Backward Chaining method is used to determine the cause of the detected damage by decreasing back from the final goal to the facts that support it. In this research, the knowledge base contains rules that connect the symptoms of damage with the causes. Through the implementation of both methods, it is expected that the system can accurately and effectively detect damage to traffic infrastructure, so that corrective actions can be taken quickly to ensure smooth traffic and road safety. This research can contribute to the development of a more intelligent and efficient damage detection system for traffic infrastructure. The results of this study show that both methods, Forward Chaining and Backward Chaining can be used to detect damage to traffic infrastructure with an accurate percentage of 99.97%.
